HTC given a rave write-up in Wired, Android singled out as major reason for success

Slick geek magazine SLASH web site Wired has just published an extremely glowing article on HTC’s recent successes, pointing out that the heavily-into-Android smartphone maker is now the fourth most popular mobile company in the world, after Nokia, Research In Motion and Apple.

And it’s mostly down to the likes of this little beauty, and the lovely flip-clock that’s set the world on fire:

Thanks to HTC’s quick and clever investment in smartphone design and technology, and the way it has already bagged itself a large slice of the Android market at this early stage in the life of the mobile OS, HTC looks poised to grow more, and faster, over the next few years.

We certainly can’t help but feel a pang of embarrassment for Nokia. Sure, Nokia will keep on making loads of money by selling 3310s in “developing markets” for the next 20 years, but HTC has built itself a phenomenally cool hardware brand, and market share, in a few short years – and will soon OBLITERATE ALL RIVALS, probably.
