Crikey, Seesmic is good. It’s puzzlingly low-profile on the Android Market, though – the reason we’ve not used or reviewed it yet is because the app doesn’t come up when you do a generic search for “Twitter” on the Market.
At least, it doesn’t come up in the top 100 or so pages we’ve lazily scrolled though. As a result, it has taken until now to witness the FULL MAJESTY of the amazing Seesmic v1.1 Android Twitter client in action.
Seesmic pulls off the double – manages to look simple, yet has all the backstage options of a fully-featured Twitter client. Searching, Lists, retweeting, text size fiddling so it’s readable on your phone, account management, photo and video uploads, plus you can specify your favourite URL-shortening service and even enter your Bit.ly username and API key to make it even smoother and more integrated. Phew.
You can also search for Twitter users by profile name, which brings up the option to view their Tweets, friends, favourites and everything. If you can do it at Twitter.com you can do it in Seesmic, basically.
Yet it looks so simple. Seesmic is a definite ‘keeper’ and we’re seriously thinking about using it full-time instead of Swift and our current backup app TwitterRide. However… seeing as we’re all QUIRKY and unpredictable, we’re not going to – Seesmic is too perfect.
We like our apps to have lovable flaws you have to learn to live with and tolerate. Seesmic has no flaws at all. It is literally too good!

/ April 21, 2010Twitter announced that they are going to launch an ‘official’ Twitter Android app. It’s still unclear how they will proceed, but I’m leaning toward the purchase of an existing third party app. Read more here: http://eugeneorourke.com/blog/official-android-twitter-app/
